Teacher Sensitivity Training: In 2005 to 2009, Antardristi Nepal conducted three-day sensitivity trainings with teachers from government schools in the Kathmandu, Lalitpu, Bhaktapur and Kaski(pokhara) districts. The program aimed to raise awareness regarding abuse issues and to better enable teachers to support students dealing with sexual abuse.
In response to demand there have already been two following up booster sessions with school teachers in 2009 and we hope to continue this.

Peer Group Mobilization:Antardristi Nepal also established peer support groups in the government school system. Seven students in each school underwent a similar three-day program to assist them in providing support and referrals to their peers.

Interaction Program: An interaction program entitled “Speak the Truth” was conducted twice in 2005-2009, featuring a day of presentations from physicians, psychologists and legal experts regarding sexual abuse issues.

Antardristi Nepal also assisted a group of students in using drama and theater methods to educate their peers about the implications of abuse. We hope to teceive soon programme through out the course of 2009.

Research and Consultation
Several surveys have been conducted from 2004-2009 to better determine the prevalence of sexual assault and sexual abuse among youth in the Kathmandu district.

Antardristi Nepal has also served in an advisory capacity for numerous local children’s homes and NGOs, including Ama Ghar, the Network for Children, Prisoners and their Dependents, and the UNDP. CARE has also employed AN to produce two training materials on sexual abuse

Referral Support
Antardristi Nepal serves as a referral source for organizations such as Voice of children (working with street children), Shakti samuha in Gausala gaurighat (an ornganization working for women), Pepole In Need,(an arganization working for childrens),legal Aid consultancy Cente.

care and support Centre
It has been a year since Antardristi Nepal has opened up a Psychological care and support center called “MAYA” for the abused minors. The centre provides psychological counseling and trauma counseling to the victims. It also provides family counseling and empowerment training to assist the victims’ families.

Establishment of another centre in Pokhara
Antardristi Nepal after its first endeavor in Kathmandu has successfully opened a sister centre in Pokhara and It has already been five months of its opening. Similar activities are being performed in Pokhara centre as well. There are already the clients gaining the facilities.

Recent Activities

Interaction programme between privileged and non-privileged children
Antardristi Nepal arranged an interaction program with children from different categories. Children from different walks of life attended the programme. They were from orphanages, government schools (as child labour), private schools and some who received counseling at AN centre. All the Children enjoyed as well as learned from the diversity of backgrounds of the other children present. During the interaction they received a lecture from one of the police personnel on how the police work and how the police help work against violence. This type of interaction is very important for these children in a country with a caste system that they are not alone and not so different from other children in their country.
Skill Development activities

• A refresher course on child rights was conducted for the staff. In addition to this AN sent one of the staff member to learn how to make incense, the training was delivered by one of the recovering drug addicts.  This was done to empower and help them explore different areas. Another purpose of the training raise the possibility of enabling AN to make and sell them for minimal charge in order to help sustain the project to some extent.
